Introduction

Finding satisfactory child-care can be a stressful exercise for parents.  Swansons Nanny Agency appreciates this fact and aims to alleviate much of that anxiety by undertaking most of the initial groundwork on behalf of their clients.

All child-care applicants are personally interviewed and thoroughly vetted.  They are required to provide a CV and references  which are all carefully and painstakingly checked.  Many nannies will have already been placed by Swansons in previous jobs and will be well known to the Agency.

Our range of expertise includes the supply of both daily and live-in Nannies and Mother's Helps - full-time and part-time - permanent or temporary.  The Agency also runs an active nanny share register.

The majority of Nannies are qualified, usually having completed a two year intensive child-care course at an accredited college.  Examples of qualifications are NNEB Child-care Diploma, BTEC National Diploma in Child and Early Years Development, and a range of GNVQ City and Guilds diplomas.  Nannies should always be able to produce their relevant certificates.

These courses involve both written work and practical experience in all fields of baby and pre-school child development and care.  A Nanny without such training will have had several years of sound experience involving a variety of age groups, supported by watertight references.

Child-care applicants without the necessary experience or qualifications are termed as Mother's Helps. They often work with an employer based at home - thereby gaining hands-on child-care experience, or they might care for school age children and undertake some household duties, but the emphasis should be on caring for children.

Most applicants are already equipped with an Enhanced Disclosure Certificate obtained through the Criminal Records Bureau but, if not, this can be arranged through Swansons.  We also recommend that candidates have an up to date First Aid Certificate - for everybody's peace of mind.
